Vaughan tags along with his older brother to a hunting party in the Mississippi Delta of 1949. Being the youngest at this party, Vaughan is overlooked or ridiculed. But Vaughan finds another outcast, the flamboyant Archie. The two outsiders ditch the party and explore the world outside of this prescribed culture.
